Plain language, and only what this website actually does.

• No account needed. Browsing the Community Memory Map, searching it, opening entries and submitting a photograph or memory all work without registering or signing in. Accounts exist only for authorized moderators.
• Your name is your choice. When you submit, you decide whether your name is shown with your contribution. If you leave that unchecked, the entry is credited to "Anonymous Contributor".
• Email is optional and private. If you give an email address, it is used only to contact you about your submission. It is stored separately from the public entry, is never shown on the site, and is not included in public pages, page source or public data responses. Only authorized moderators can see it.
• Approved material becomes public. Photographs, stories, place names, approximate dates and map locations that a moderator approves are publicly viewable on the Community Memory Map and have their own shareable web address.
• Pending and declined submissions stay private. Only approved entries appear publicly. Moderator notes are never shown publicly.
• Basic technical information. Like any website, requests to this site are processed by our hosting and database providers as needed to deliver pages, store uploaded photographs and keep the site secure.
